Hambush Farm
Baltonsborough, Somerset
The Brief:
To renovate and remodel a grade II listed Somerset longhouse, adding an extension to the rear using the existing palette of materials in a contemporary manner.
The Works:
2013
With the exception of two rooms the entire house was gutted and renovated to form a large, airy family home. The existing house was re-pointed using lime mortar from Limebase Products near Langport in Somerset. The contemporary extension was constructed using reclaimed blue lias stone and has a flat roof with a full length glazed link, providing light to the rear of the rooms of the existing house.
Notable features include the powder-coated metal 'standing seam effect' fascia and soffit and impressive sliding doors that extend the length of the back wall to 'bring the outside in'.
